Improving services for people with learning disabilities

A big health day is being held on Wednesday 3 August for people with learning disabilities and their carers.

The event has been arranged by NHS Trafford’s mental health commissioning team as a way of finding out how people with learning disabilities view health services in the borough.

Sandy Bering, NHS Trafford’s mental health commissioning lead, said: “We want to make health services better for people with learning disabilities, so we are asking for their views on how this can be done.

“It might be that they find that healthcare professionals don’t know how to communicate with them, or that services aren’t as accessible as they could be. We want to hear first hand what barriers people with learning disabilities face when using health services so that we can overcome them.”

The event will be held at Longford Park Stadium in Stretford, from 10am to 3pm with lunch provided. Anyone wanting to attend should contact Nilofer Razzaq on 0161 873 9589 or email nilofer.razzaq@trafford.nhs.uk by Thursday 28 July.
