Today, Thursday 11 February, the National Pandemic Flu Service was shut down. This is due to the falling numbers of swine flu infections.
This means that from now on, if you feel like you have the flu, you should call your GP or NHS Direct instead of the national freephone number. It is still important that you do not visit your GP if you feel unwell with flu-like symptoms, but telephone the surgery instead. (Please note: Authorisation numbers issued by the National Pandemic Flu Service will only be valid for seven days after the service ends.)
