NHS dental places in Trafford can help you protect your teeth for the future

There are thousands of NHS dental places available in Trafford and people are being urged to take them up to protect their oral health.

Last week the British Dental Association's scientific adviser Professor Damien Walmsley said that dentists will face a big challenge in the future when it comes to treating an aging population with increasingly healthy teeth.

BDA research indicates that currently fewer than a third of over-65s have their own teeth. Within 20 years, they say, the number of over-65s with their own teeth is likely to rise to around 50 per cent.

Dental work on the NHS is vastly cheaper than going privately, with a basic check-up costing £16.50.  All work is also banded so you will pay a set price for your treatment.

Trafford Primary Care Trust has thousands of spare NHS dental places, and is encouraging people to take advantage of them and sign up now.

Trafford PCT's chief executive Sheena Cumiskey said: "We are committed to ensuring that the residents of Trafford benefit from the highest quality dental care, provided from well-equipped surgeries.

"NHS dental care is increasingly more affordable and more readily accessible. There are proven scientific links between oral health and overall health and wellbeing, and with this in mind I would encourage all Trafford residents to book an appointment not only for themselves, but also for their family members."

All you need to do to register is call 0845 602 0708 and provide a few simple details, or visit www.traffordpct.nhs.uk to find your nearest NHS dentist with spaces free.
