Trafford Primary Care Trust (PCT) has announced the re-appointment of Barbara Rimmer as Audit Chair, as well as Bob Galley and Akilah Akinola as Non-Executive Directors on its Board. They will each serve a further four year term from 1 October 2009 through to 30 September 2013.
The re-appointments were made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments Code of Practice. All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees' political activity to be made public. All re-appointees have declared no political activity.
Barbara Rimmer will receive remuneration of £13,136 per annum. Bob Galley and Akilah Akinola will each receive remuneration of £7,882 per annum.
Barbara Rimmer is Finance Director of Silverbeck Rymer Solicitors. Barbara is a qualified Chartered Accountant and has enjoyed an extensive career working in a diverse range of industries and sectors at a senior financial, strategic and operational level. She has previously been Director of Financial Services and Company Secretary for the Focus Wickes Group with over 430 stores and a turnover of £1500m as well as Finance Director of Rathbone, a UK-wide voluntary youth sector.
Akilah Akinola is Chief Executive of Outreach Community and Residential services, which provides accommodation and community-based services for adults with learning disabilities and / or mental health needs. She has enjoyed an extensive career in providing person-centred services to a broad spectrum of children and vulnerable adults within the third sector.
Bob Galley is a former Director of Property and senior executive for the Co-Operative group, which had a turnover in excess of £8billion. Before retiring, his role included membership of the executive capital committee which had responsibility for the investment within and development of ten businesses including a chain of 300 pharmacies and working at board level on the strategies of all the businesses in the group. He was previously Head of Property Investments for the GMC Superannuation Fund and held various senior management roles with Prudential Ltd. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
Speaking about the appointments Chair of Trafford PCT Terry Atherton said: “I am very pleased that we have such a strong team. These latest re-appointments ensure we have a Board that combines considerable commercial and customer service experience with a very strong record of delivery of services to disadvantaged groups. This will put the organisation in a strong position to provide a high-level degree of support as we face the challenges of reducing health inequalities; re-designing our services to make them more effective and ensuring that we get the best value and outcomes for our resources."
Trafford PCT is responsible for commissioning healthcare services on behalf of the residents of Trafford.
