The Sunshine Café in Sale West has become the first community café to be awarded a Trafford Healthy Choices award.
The café, based at Sale West Community Centre and funded by the Sale West and Ashton Partnership, received a gold award because of the range of healthy food options it offers customers.
Marie Price, health improvement officer at NHS Trafford, commented: “The Sunshine Café is a place where residents in Sale West can come together and get healthy meals at affordable prices. We have been working closely with the community to encourage people to lead a healthier lifestyle, so it’s great that this award-winning facility is available to them.”
The awards were developed by Kate Campbell, public health nutrition coordinator at Trafford Council, who added: “The awards aim to encourage caterers to provide healthier menus through improved preparation and cooking methods. It is also a way of making consumers aware of the establishments where they can find healthy food options.”
The Sunshine Cafe is located on Newbury Avenue in Sale West, and is open from 8.30am to 2pm, Monday to Friday.
