Patients in Trafford are satisfied with their GP surgery or health centre and would recommend it to someone who has just moved to the local area, a survey has found.
Over 90%* of those who took part in the 2009/10 GP patient survey said they were very or fairly satisfied with the care they receive, while 62% would definitely recommend their practice or health centre to someone new to the area.
The survey was developed with Ipsos MORI and academics from the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre and the Peninsula Medical School. Around 4million registered patients in England were invited to take part at different times during the year, and the questions related to topics such as ease of access to services at GP practices and health centres; preferred methods of booking an appointment and ease of getting an appointment; planning care and out of hours care, and overall patient satisfaction.

Dr Masud Prodhan commented: “The responses from the survey provide valuable information about patients’ experiences when they access local primary care services. It also helps us recognise where there are areas for improvement, although on the whole the responses were positive. We are pleased that so many patients are satisfied with and have confidence and trust in their doctor, and as a GP community we will work hard to ensure we maintain this level of service.”
