Many conditions that cause ill health are linked to what we eat, including obesity, diabetes, heart disease, stroke and some cancers. By promoting healthy eating as part of a healthy lifestyle we will help to prevent these conditions.
Dietitians work with individuals and groups to identify barriers to healthy eating and find ways to overcome them and make healthier choices easier choices. We are involved in a wide range of initiatives such as sessions on messy eating for toddlers and working with schools to run packed lunch workshops for parents.
We work with a wide range of other organisations and advise on healthy eating for national and local initiatives, such as the Healthy School Scheme and the Healthy Settings Award for nurseries, child minders and after school care.
We aim to ensure that accurate and consistent advice is given about healthy eating. We develop policies on food and nutrition and we help to co-ordinate Trafford's Our Food Network. The network aims to bring together people who are involved with food and healthy eating in Trafford to encourage joined up working and to share information. We also provide training for a wide range of staff and community workers on healthy eating.
