At the podiatry department, the range of services includes routine assessment for patients; nail surgery; biomechanical assessment (how a person walks and moves) as well as providing orthoses (fittings that assist patients) and foot protection for high-risk patients, such as people with diabetes.
The team provides services in community clinics, hospitals, care homes and within patients’ own homes. It works in partnership with patients, carers and members of the primary health care team (for example in GP surgeries) to promote foot heath, help people live more independently and minimise the need for amputation when people have severe disease. The team also provides expert training and education for health professionals across Trafford.
