NHS Trafford is responsible for commissioning, or buying, healthcare services for the people of Trafford. We collate detailed information on the people who live in Trafford and their health needs, and use that to ensure that we provide the most appropriate services possible. Use the menu on the left to find out about these services.
Our budget comes from the Government, and is around £360million a year. We use this money to pay for everything from hospital treatments to prescriptions for Trafford residents.
But NHS Trafford doesn’t just hold the purse strings. We have a large public health function which is responsible for protecting and improving the health of local people, for example, by providing support for people who are trying to stop smoking, by helping people to live healthily by having good diets and taking exercise, and helping people to drink less. You can find out more about these projects in the Your health section of this website.
Trafford Provider Services runs community care in the borough . Its services include podiatry, community nurses, diabetes care and physiotherapy, among many others.
