Business plan / vision

The business plan 2008/09 contains ambitious plans aimed at transforming healthcare across
the borough.

'Transforming health in Trafford' reveals a radical new approach for the future of local health services, driven by patient needs on an unprecedented scale. The PCT sets out a series of priorities and expected patient benefits that include:

  • A system focused on good health as well as sickness.
  • More choice for patients over where and when they are treated.
  • A greater say for the population in how services are run.
  • Faster access to care in more convenient locations.
  • Guaranteed quality of care based on national standards.

The plan highlights how the PCT will put its patients first and provide more people with the knowledge and equipment to monitor their health in the comfort and convenience of their own home. Health experts recognise this could be particularly effective for illnesses such as diabetes and heart disease.

There are also proposals for closer working with GPs to share information safely and confidentially about patient lists to help pinpoint groups in the local population who may be at particular risk of poor health. The PCT wants to make sure that everyone has equal access to its services.
