Surveys and consultations

At NHS Trafford, we are committed to engaging with local people to improve health and well-being. One way we do this is through public surveys and consultations. These are designed to help find out what people want from health and social care provided in their community.

The Department of Health consults with stakeholders and the wider public in the shaping and development of health policy.  You can view and respond to current national consultations.

Extending choice of provider consultation

From April 2012, the Department of Health expects all PCT clusters to roll out the government’s policy on extending patient choice.  A provisional list of eight broad clinical areas where 'any qualified provider' (AQP) can be considered has been published.  These are:

  • Services for back and neck pain (MSK)
  • Adult hearing services in the community
  • Continence services (adults and children)
  • Direct access diagnostic tests
  • Wheelchair services (children)
  • Leg ulcer and wound healing
  • Primary care psychological therapies (adult talking therapies)
  • Podiatry services

PCT clusters are to select three areas where they roll out AQP next year, and this decision must be taken in light of local views.

As such, we would like you have your say on which areas AQP should be extended to. You can do so by filling in this online survey. If you would like a paper version of the survey to complete, contact Catherine Brown at NHS Trafford on 0161 873 9527 or email catherine.brown@trafford.nhs.uk.

The deadline for completing the survey is Thursday 15 September 2011
